Residents have shared their views after Chorleywood Parish Council (CPC) revealed a new two-year action plan for the Common.
The plan will guide the management of the green space from 2025 until 2027 and is an extension of the existing Chorleywood Common Greenspace Action Plan (GAP).
Since the inception of the GAP in 2018, the Common has seen several improvements including care of the secondary woodland, the installation of interpretation panels, new areas and rules for dog walkers during bird nesting season, and the success of conservation grazing with targeted mowing.
The GAP Extension 2025-2027 includes new objectives such as pond and woodland management, updates to Chorleywood Golf Club, surveying of bats, scrub control on the banks, and even a plan to create a new pond.
The consultation on the plan closed on Wednesday, December 18.
The plan states: “Engaging communities is integral to the production of GAPs, to ensure that stakeholders are fully aware of and able to interact with the plan production process.
“Effective community engagement is at the centre of successful management plans.
“The value of a GAP is maximised when it incorporates and balances the aspirations of stakeholders and interest groups.”
Elgan Adlard, from Hertfordshire County Council’s countryside management service, has been contacted for comment.
