A local community figure has been nominated for a mylocalHero Award for his tireless work in fundraising for charity and bringing people together.
Arun Koshal is up for the Community Champion Award at this year’s ceremony, organised by My Local News.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Arun gathered together local residents to take part in a virtual version of the Moor Park 10k. The virtual event raised £3,500.
The following year, Arun helped to fundraise a record-breaking £15,000 for the 10k, and was responsible for enlisting parents and pupils at his daughter’s school, Northwood College for Girls (NWC), to get involved.
Since then, he has continued to be an ardent supporter of the 10k, with his business, Maitre Consulting, becoming a trophy sponsor.
Arun also provides valuable support for NWC and is a well-respected Scout.
Arun’s wife Vrisha said: “Arun stands out as a true community champion, a role he has embraced with dedication, passion, and a deep commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.”
The awards take place on Saturday, November 16.
