CLUB BADGE: No change for Watford FC crest

Published on: 20th November 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Watford FC

After a lengthy process, Watford FC have announced they will not be changing the club’s crest for next year’s kit.

The idea for a new crest was put forward by the club and involved fans creating their own ideas, sending them in and choosing the winner from the final designs.

In a statement, the club have said: “Following a lengthy and comprehensive process, in which you played an important part, we are pleased to announce that we will be retaining the current Watford badge, the final vote deciding this by a 60/40 margin. As such, there will be no change to next year’s kit and we have pressed the button on production.

“Again, we want to thank those of you who registered their vote(s) at any stage. We set out to make this as democratic, and open, a process as possible and in that regard,  we managed to capture the opinion of more than 25,000 Watford fans. As such, we hope that everyone felt like they had an opportunity to have their say on a topic that is close to all of our hearts.

“Feel free to get in touch with any thoughts regarding the badge – the more we know about your opinion, the more we can ensure that the club continues to make all of our fans proud.”

Spencer Field, the club’s Global Strategy & Partnerships director, said: “The initiative has thrown up some opportunities for the club. We will be utilising one of the 4,000 designs for retail/merchandising purposes.

“Very few of you will have seen the relevant design, as it was never suitable as the club’s official badge, but we think it will modernise our fashion range and we look forward to unveiling it in 2020.”
