People planning a visit to the Rickmansworth Aquadrome from February onwards are being advised to plan ahead- as the pedestrian bridge leading into the popular local landmark has been closed for essential repairs.
The bridge, located just off Riverside Drive, next to the Ebury play area, is undergoing work to its surface, and will be closed for a four week period from Monday, February 20 onward.
A detour will be in place so that visitors can still gain access to and from the Aquadrome and the wider facilities. Maps and directions will be provided on site, and are also available on the Three Rivers District Council website.
TRDC’s lead member for leisure, councillor Chris Lloyd, said: “The Aquadrome is a much-loved local green space used by thousands of people including myself. The bridge is well used to connect the Aquadrome with Rickmansworth town centre and we apologise for any inconvenience the closure may cause.
“This work is essential and with the diversion in place, we hope that visitors will still be able to visit the play area, wider Rickmansworth area and the Aquadrome”.
Where is the diversion taking the cyclists as the bridge is part of the National Cycle Network route 6.(61).
