CLIMATE CAMPAIGNERS: Croxley students head to parliament for exciting climate justice event

Published on: 23rd December 2023   |   By: Panayiota Demosthenous   |   Category: Uncategorized

Students from Croxley Danes School were delighted to be invited to the Houses of Parliament on December 6, where they took part in a climate justice event.

The People and Planet group students walked the same halls as prime ministers, royalty and MPs, as they attended the event hosted by Christian Aid, Oxfam and other charitable organisations, to discuss climate justice and how the impacts of climate change are felt unevenly around the globe.

Amaya in year 9 and Parneet in year 8 were tasked with walking MPs from nationwide constituencies including Kelly McCarthy MP, Shadow Minister for Climate Change of the UK around the event, where several art pieces from Croxley Danes students were being exhibited.

They explained the importance of each piece and climate justice, and how they worked together with students from other schools to illustrate the importance of climate justice in the light of COP28.

A spokesperson from Croxley Danes School said: “The People and Planet group at Croxley Danes are working hard to support climate justice and other global causes by organising events such as the Christmas Jumper Day and the Teacher Fancy Dress Day, with proceeds from both events going to Save the Children.

“Well done to all our People and Planet students at Croxley Danes and especially to Parneet and Amaya for their excellent work at the Houses of Parliament.”
