City second in cheating charts

Published on: 29th March 2018   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

St Albans is the second most adulterous city in the United Kingdom, according to recently released statistics.

The figures published by dating website Illicit Encounters, who providing dating services for married people, show that only people in Oxford have more affairs as a percentage than those in St Albans.

A total of 5,015 people in the city are adulterous, working out at 9.12 per cent of the city’s adult population acting unfaithfully.

The statistics show that these high rates of infidelity are new to the city, as they leapt from 36th in the infidelity table to 2nd in just 12 months.

In comparison, Watford is the eighth most faithful town in the country, with only 0.3 per cent of its adult population participating in extra-marital relations.

The numbers were gathered using postal data of service users signed up to IllicitEncounters.com, which is then mapped against the adult population of each town, giving an overall percentage of cheating adults, along with each town’s overall number of adulterers.

The site’s spokesperson, Christian Grant, said: “We’ve been running the Infidelity Index for a few years now, but St. Albans’ jump from 36th place to 2nd in the space of a year is unprecedented.

“It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why this may be case, but we can make some educated guesses. With house prices in and around London continuing to rise, many people in an unhappy marriage find the economic implications of a divorce too scary to contemplate, especially in today’s economy.

“Combine that with the fact that St. Albans is within easy reach of the nation’s capital, and it’s safe to say that its population isn’t exactly spoilt for choice.

“For the seemingly unhappily married couples of St. Albans, let’s hope for a better 2019.”
