Nearly £10,000 has been raised for local groups after Chorleywood Parish Council held its fourth annual charity quiz and supper night last Saturday (November 24). The event saw a number of promises put forward from over 90 Sponsors. Martin Clarkson, who led the auction, commented: “With Promises ranging from a helicopter flight over London, tea at the House of Commons, Middlesex CCC tickets, a thrilling Silverstone experience, a Thai cooking experience to meals at local restaurants, there was something for everyone to bid on. “The highlight promise was a week in a stunning loch side holiday home in the Highlands of Scotland which went for £1,400. Yet again true community spirit has shone through, over the past four years the Parish event has raised almost £29,000 for 30 local voluntary, support or charitable organisations.” Yvonne Merritt, Clerk to the Council, said the parish council wanted to thank everyone who has contributed towards making the night a success She said: “Without the generosity of sponsors, bidders and helpers we would not be able to help so many deserving organisations.” The Council has committed to running another Quiz Night & Auction again next year which will take place on November 22, 2014.
