CHOIR CLUB: Chalfonts society invites new members to join ahead of Handel performance

Published on: 20th August 2024   |   By: Amy Pollard   |   Category: Uncategorized

The South Bucks Choral Society is looking for more members from Gerrards Cross and The Chalfonts.

The society, which was established in 1980 by musical director Ian Ledingham, currently has around 80 members. Mr Ledingham is also known for founding the Amersham Music Festival.

Starting rehearsals for Handel’s Messiah in September ahead of their performance in November, they are now looking for a range of local singers to join them.

Jay Roff, who has been in the choir on and off for 41 years, said: “I really love singing in the choir. I joined it when I was 18 and I am now 59.

“I have always gone back to it because it’s so important. It’s such a good way to destress. If you’ve had a bad day at work, and you go, you are just so glad you did.”

Auditions for the choir will take place at Chalfont St Peter Parish Church from 9.30am to 3pm on Saturday, September 7, and from 2pm to 6pm on Sunday, September 8. You can find out more at www.southbuckschoral.org.uk
