Published on: 2nd August 2024   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A Northwood teacher and author has released an anthology of short stories written by local schoolchildren.

The book, 50 Short Stories of Hope, was released on Saturday, June 8, and features the winning entries from a writing competition organised by Caroline Boxall for children aged eight to 13.

Talking to Northwood & Ruislip News about the inspiration behind the contest, Caroline said: “I went around various schools talking about my books and I got asked a lot about how to get published, so I thought I’d do this competition. I was expecting around 50 entries, but I got around 160!”

Three of the 50 chosen stories are written by pupils at Northwood College for Girls, with others written by children from Amersham, Watford, Kings Langley, Chorleywood, Rickmansworth, Harpenden, Leatherhead, and even Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

After selecting the winners, Caroline then created images representing each of the stories for the book’s cover.

Caroline is already planning on running the contest again at Christmas. To find out more, please visit her website.
