A man who allegedly dragged a driver out of their vehicle during a robbery has been charged.
Police were contacted during the early hours of Saturday, January 13, following an incident in Paston Road, Hemel Hempstead.
It was reported that a man was giving another man a lift, when the passenger allegedly pulled the driver out of the vehicle and drove off in it.
The vehicle was recovered later that day.
Following an investigation by the Dacorum Local Crime Unit, a man was arrested on Wednesday, January 31, and charges were subsequently authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service.
David Payne, 40, from Waveney, Hemel Hempstead, has been charged with robbery, driving without insurance, and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
He appeared before Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 2, and was remanded into custody. He is next due to appear before St Albans Crown Court on Monday, March 4.
