CHANGING LIVES: CEO reflects on ‘amazing journey’ on Northwood charity’s sixth anniversary

Published on: 4th September 2025   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

A Northwood-based charity that provides support to vulnerable people has celebrated six years of changing lives.

In the six years since its launch, Help Change Lives has made a huge impact across Kenya, tackling period poverty, supporting education, providing vital medical care, and offering practical help to families in need.

CEO Pallvee Shah, who grew up in Kenya and now lives in Northwood, was inspired to start the charity six years ago after she donated £150 to a Kenyan pastor to help a family in need. After seeing the transformation her donation made, Pallvee decided to make an even bigger impact and start her own charity, Help Change Lives.

Talking to Northwood & Ruislip News, Pallvee said: “I had no idea we would grow so much in such a short space of time or impact so many people. It’s been a truly amazing journey. I am so grateful for everyone who has supported us along the way and to our staff and volunteers on the ground in Kenya who make this happen, as well as some trusted charities we work with in other countries.”

Help Change Lives has recently completed a project distributing enough food to last two months to over 100 vulnerable families in Kakamega, Kisumu, Vihiga, Luanda and Nairobi.

In six years, the charity has had an incredible impact, supporting 15,000 girls with reusable period pad kits, sponsoring over 1,000 students in secondary schools, providing vital medical treatments, and helping more than 200 families across Kenya with food, toilets, housing, bedding, education, small business support and farming.

Pallvee added: “It would be wonderful to have donations from Northwood residents and local businesses to keep our work going; 100 per cent of all donations goes to work on the ground.

“If anyone has good-quality smartphones or laptops to donate, they would make an enormous difference to our university students in Kenya.

“We are a very small but high-impact charity, with a lean, decision-making structure that is nimble and responsive, and we get things done, fast. All our work is done with love, compassion, honesty and integrity. We love helping to change lives and would love your support to change even more.”
