Two members of the Leavesden community have been recognised as part of Watford’s celebrations of 100 years of being town.
For the town’s centenary celebrations, Watford Borough Council have been highlighting a different person each week who they feel has contributed to the town and surrounding area. Two of the most recent additions, have links to Leavesden.
Dan Dark OBE has been a long-standing figure in the film industry, but his connection to the area began in 1994, when he was part of the team that showed the James Bond series’ producers around the old aerodrome site.
Since then, he’s been a key part of the team which has developed the location into a world-class film studio, with him now being the Leavesden Studios managing director, with it now also being the location of the globally popular Harry Potter Studio Tour.
Also recognised in the list is Christine Blackett, who is an active member of Leavesden Community Group and other projects. Her passion for good housing and friendly neighbourhoods has seen her be a key part in mobilising local residents for the last 20 years.
