An under 15s rugby team from Watford have an exciting semi-final tie coming up this weekend, and residents are being urged to show their support.
The Fullerians RFC U15s Girls entered this season’s revamped RFU National Girls Cup Competition after successfully winning a Herts preliminary entry competition in September.
The competition is for the top 64 clubs in England at U15 level, and it was split into four regions and then into four pool groups.
Pre-Christmas, the girls played in their respective pool and after a strong win against London Welsh, they narrowly lost to Hitchin and finished second in the pool.
The competition then splits and the winner of each pool continues in the national competition, while the runners up enter a regional event.
The girls have been drawn in the London & South East Regional Semi Final against Basingstoke and will host them this Sunday (January 30).
In a statement, the club said: “This is a great opportunity for the girls and shows the growth of our girls’ section at Fullerians since we first started in September 2017.
“We have a mix of girls that played in the Minis and lots of new girls to the game that are part of the squad.
“The game will kick off at 1.30pm and we would love to have a big crowd supporting the girls.”
You can see the team in action this weekend at Coningesby Drive (End of Parkside Drive), Watford, WD17 3BD.
