Data from the recent 2021 Census has revealed some of the facts and figures surrounding the populations of The Chalfonts and Gerrards Cross.
In all areas – named as Chalfont St Peter West, Chalfont Common and St Peter East, Little Chalfont, Chalfont St Giles, Seer Green and Jordans, and Gerrards Cross – the number of female residents outnumbered male residents by a slight margin.
In the area of marital status, the majority of people in all the areas were in marriages or civil partnerships, falling between 56 per cent and 60 per cent.
All areas had a majority who identified as Christian, bucking the trend for the rest of England and Wales, which for the first time saw fewer than half of the population define themselves as Christian.
However, more than a quarter of people in all the areas identified as having no religion.
In the area of ethnicity, all areas had a majority white population. The Chalfont St Giles and Seer Green and Jordans areas had the highest percentage at 90.8 per cent, while Gerrards Cross had the lowest at 65.5 per cent. The latter also had an Asian population of 25.5 per cent.
Further data, including information about people’s jobs, housing, education, gender identity, sexuality, and health, is set to be released sporadically up to mid-January next year.
