Published on: 24th July 2018   |   By: Dean Shaw   |   Category: Uncategorized

The winners from Abbots Langley Carnival have been crowned as Watford Lions, who organise the procession and carnival held a thank you event on July 13.

The winners included best school which was won by Tanners Wood School with the float sponsored by the Compasses Pub; schools mini float winner was won by Divine Saviour School; community float was won by MK Ginder & Sons; vehicles category was won by Royal British Legion Riders and the strollers winner was won by Revelation Majorettes.

Amanda Bate from the carnival organising team said: “At the special event on 13 July we thanked all the volunteers, including Gill, Fiona and Tony, parish council chairman Brenda Kersey who presented some of the awards, Richard Kennel the chairman of the community centre, who along with Brenda were the judges of the procession.

“This is such a difficult role because all the floats were excellent. Others to be thanked included Charlotte a volunteer at the community centre for organising the Prince and Princess of the carnival and the horse drawn carriage, all those who took part including those who brought along their scooters and classic cars.

“There were many others deserving of our thanks, without all of them there would not be a carnival.”

The money the carnival raises is used to make donations to local charitable causes, schools, individuals, clubs.
