After years of caring for two parents with Alzheimer’s disease, a Radlett resident has set up a support group aimed at family carers like herself, with the help of Radlett United Synagogue.
Over the last two months, retired psychodynamic therapist Michelle Richman has hosted two group sessions each fortnight, first at the synagogue and now at her home in Radlett. As the number of attendees grows, Michelle is considering setting up Zoom sessions for those unable to attend in person.
Michelle explained: “There are no places for carers to talk about how difficult it is. I want to offer a confidential space to talk about those difficulties.”
Everyone is welcome to come along to Care for Carers every other Tuesday at either 2pm or 8pm. Residents are welcome to drop in on a
no-commitment basis for conversation and support, guided by Michelle’s professional background.
Attendees hail from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and religious groups.
