Pinner’s neighbourhood police team headed to social media to let residents know about two separate vehicle recovery incidents on Sunday, August 27.
Pinner Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) reported on an early morning visit to Deacons Close, where a vehicle was found that had been stolen months ago. This was followed by a second tweet that noted a second stolen vehicle found in Durley Avenue, after being listed on Gumtree.
The Pinner SNT then shared advice on social media, on ways to reduce car thefts, including the best ways to lock vehicles and keep keys safe, being aware of carjackers, parking responsibility and fitting in-car security locks.
This follows the success of Op Poethlyn, a pre-planned operation targeting keyless car thefts planned by neighbourhood officers from the North West Basic Commands Unit.
The operation was in response to the community outcry at the rise in keyless car thefts and vehicle-enabled crime, and led to 21 arrests.
