A police officer has been airlifted to hospital after their car overturned on London Road in St Albans this afternoon (Tuesday, May 12).
The road has been closed following the incident, which saw the police car hit a brick wall and overturn. Drivers have been asked to find alternative routes.
Following the incident, which happened near Colindale Avenue, Herts Police tweeted: “London Road in St Albans is closed following a serious traffic collision this afternoon. Drivers are asked to find alternative routes. A police car responding to an immediate [incident] hit a brick wall and overturned. The driver has been airlifted to hospital. No-one else was injured”.
It’s believed that over a dozen emergency vehicles attended the aftermath of the crash. At the time of writing, London Road is still closed.
