A Watford man who had cocaine at his home along with a deal bags and drug paraphernalia was jailed for three years and four months today (Tuesday, May 12).
Police armed with a search warrant went to the home of Mario Mariou, 55, on September 29 last year.
St Albans Crown Court was told a substantial amount of the Class A drugs were found at the address along with scales, deal bags and cash.
Small wraps of the drug were found in rooms throughout the property.
Today, Mariou, of St George’s Drive in Watford, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply and acquiring criminal property.
At the time of the police raid last year, Mariou was on licence following his conviction in 2010 at Wood Green Crown Court for dealing in drugs which included heroin, cocaine and cannabis, for which he received a 10-year sentence.
Judge Richard Foster, hearing the case, was told Mariou had been struggling after the death of his mother in 2018.
Daryl Cherrett, defending, said while in custody on remand his client had made efforts to tackle his own drug problems.
Passing sentence, Judge Foster told Mariou: “You know the evils of drug dealing. You have been at it before and you are at it again.”
He was jailed for a total of 40 months.
