BUSINESS BOOST: Northwood school students to benefit from first-hand industry experience

A London data centre operator has partnered with a Northwood-based university technical college (UTC) to collaborate on an exciting new teaching programme.

Kao Data is working with UTC Heathrow on their Digital Futures Programme, a country-first initiative that sees students at the college working directly with people in the data industry to gain skills and experience.

The business is the tenth in the data services sector to join the scheme, which earlier this year received international recognition by winning the Education and Employment Project Award 2022 in Monaco.

Candace Rose Kumi, UTC Heathrow’s employer engagement lead, said: “With this additional partnership, UTC Heathrow will be able to deliver more co-teach programmes which will help our students build the skills needed for the fast-growing data centre sector.”

Mike Tamblingson, operations director for Kao Data, said: “Kao Data is proud to add to the diverse roster of hyperscale and data centre organisations helping to support UTC Heathrow’s students.”
