Three Rivers district councillor Stephen Cox has shared his views following the shocking resignation of councillor Sara Bedford.
In a statement shared with My Local News, cllr Cox said: “This resignation has been a long time coming and is for the best. Former Councillor Sara Bedford was sacked as Leader of the Council back in 2020 for good reason. She lost a vote of no confidence among members of the Liberal Democrat Group. She failed to acknowledge this and misled the public at both a live streamed council meeting and in the local media.
“Then, in July 2024, she resigned as a member of the Liberal Democrat Party just days before a number of bullying complaints were due to be heard by the national party. These complaints were made by her Liberal Democrat colleagues and subsequently all complaints were upheld against Mrs Bedford.
“Now we have repeated behaviour.
“Councillor Sara Bedford, who hasn’t mentioned this, was subject to a multiplicity of Code of Conduct complaints against her from fellow Three Rivers councillors and council officers, but submitted her resignation before those complaints were able to be heard. Why was this?”
The statement was shared just hours after cllr Bedford confirmed she had left the council.
In a post on Facebook, she shared: “I have resigned as a Three Rivers district councillor to protect my mental health. I remain a Herts County Council and Abbots Langley Parish councillor and am still working for residents.”
I have been in the village for 8 years and been on the receiving end of bullying in direct Facebook messages from this person.
People should be held accountable
At long last she has been found out. She has bullied many people and got rid of many people because she did not like them. Glad she is no longer going to influence the district .
