BUDGET MEALS: Garston families learn new recipes at free sessions with nutritionist

Published on: 1st May 2023   |   By: Megan Milstead   |   Category: Uncategorized

Local families were invited to attend four free sessions with a qualified nutritionist in Garston last month.

The events were organised by Watford Borough Council, Watford Community Housing (WCH), Watford FC Community Sports & Education Trust, Random Café, Meriden Residents’ Association and Beezee Bodies to help families cook on a budget.

Attendees were invited to cook slow cooker recipes, such as vegetarian chilli, and were given a free slow cooker at the end of selected workshops.

Edel Maher, community and customer engagement manager for WCH, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with our local partners to host these great free sessions for families in the Meriden area.

“We’re committed to providing a wide range of support to residents in our communities, and this project is helping families learn how to cook healthy meals that are affordable.

“We know that rising living costs are affecting everyone, so these events are an excellent opportunity to find out more about maintaining a balanced diet, even if you are on a tight budget.”
