Two Brownie leaders from the Girlguiding group organised a virtual Thinking Day Meeting for Jewish Brownie Packs across the UK last month.
Lucinda Glasser (Brown Owl) and Claire Sherman (Wise Owl) of 17th Bushey Brownies said: “96 Brownies and Leaders from all over London, the Suburbs and Manchester gathered virtually on February 22 to celebrate World Thinking Day. The theme for 2021 was Peacebuilding, which is as relevant today as it has been for the last 100 years of Girl Guiding.
“World Thinking Day is a celebration of ten million girls from 150 countries, who belong to the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, (WAGGGS). It has taken place each year on February 22, since 1926. It is a day of international friendship when members think of others from across the world.
“The Jewish Guide Advisory Council Thinking Day celebration saw the Brownies enjoy arts and crafts, learn about peacebuilding, and renew their promise. Each girl created a string of paper dolls holding hands – colouring them with Brownie uniforms from different countries or the UK uniforms for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and leaders.
“It was truly inspiring to see this many Brownies and leaders, albeit on screens, having such an amazing evening.”
