A beauty salon till was stolen in front of staff in broad daylight after the thief claimed he was looking for a coat.
Police were called to The Salon Collection at The Maltings in St Albans at just before 2.45pm on Monday, August 5 to reports that a shop till had been stolen.
Officers attended and carried out a search of the area, however the suspect was not traced, and investigations are ongoing.
A spokesperson for The Salon Collection said: “We are very shocked at the incident, a man came into the salon saying his wife had been in for an appointment and had left her coat in the salon.
“He must have been watching the salon as he knew to come in when there was only one member of staff downstairs.
“As soon as she turned her back to look for the coat, he knew exactly where to go and took our till. Luckily none of the staff were harmed, however they are left feeling vulnerable.
“We are taking extra security measures to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
Herts Police are currently appealing for anyone with information to call the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime number 41/70955/19.
