A team of Northwood radiologists have been awarded a major accolade at the world’s biggest medical conference.
Dr Amish Lakhani, lead consultant for training at Paul Strickland Scanner Centre, led on production of a poster called Next Generation Imaging in Advanced Prostate Cancer: An Overview.
It was chosen for the magna cum laude award – the highest honour for an educational exhibit – at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) conference in Chicago at the end of December, 2018.
The conference was attended by over 50,000 radiologists, oncologists and associated professionals.
Dr Lakhani credited trainee Dr Neeral R Patel (from Imperial College), who he supervises, as well as his colleagues at Paul Strickland Scanner Centre; Professor Anwar R Padhani, Dr Wai-Lup Wong, Dr Kathryn Wallitt, Dr Andrew Gogbashian and Dr Heminder K Sokhi.
The educational poster highlighted the limitations to current modalities used in advanced prostate cancer assessment and follow-up, the emerging role of next generation imaging techniques and the pearls and pitfalls of assessing patients with these next generation imaging solutions.
