Westgate House Care Centre has partnered with Christ Church in Ware to support the annual Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child appeal for the third year running.
The initiative brings festive cheer to children in over 100 countries worldwide by providing shoeboxes filled with gifts that bring both joy and a message of hope.
According to the care centre, this year, 12 shoeboxes were filled with thoughtful presents, each carefully chosen to bring smiles to young faces. In addition to the physical gifts, the Westgate House team raised £90 to cover the £5 per box required for transport and delivery. These donations will help ensure the boxes reach children who may have never received a gift before, making a meaningful difference in their lives.
A statement from the care centre said: “Our residents, team members, and their families have come together once again to make this campaign a success.
“A heartfelt thank you goes out to all who contributed their time, donations, and support to this meaningful cause. The generosity and teamwork displayed by everyone involved reflect the caring spirit at the heart of Westgate House Care Centre. By working together, we are helping to bring hope and joy to children who need it most, showing the true spirit of Christmas.”
Of the funds raised, £60 ensured the 12 boxes were sent on their way, while the additional £30 will help Christ Church send even more shoeboxes to children in need.
Samaritans also continues to provide resources for follow-up support.
