A total of 50 Sarratt residents gathered in the village’s main hall last month to take part in the annual spring horticultural show.
With 42 adult entrants, six of whom were newcomers, and eight child entrants, the total number of entered items was 269 altogether.
The best daffodil in the show was awarded to Roger Dudley, with the overall cup for daffodils won by Steven Booth.
In the category for all other flowers, Natalie Morris won the Dickins trophy and Simon Hammett was awarded the Best Bloom in Show (excluding daffodils). Kate Soothill was the winner of the vegetables and produce section.
The floral art arrangements attracted a good quality of entries, with Sarah Altman and Daphne Clapinson sharing the honours. Brian Luckhaus was the winner of the arts and crafts section.
Agnes Bonwick displayed her skills in the cookery section and was the eventual winner. The children’s entries showed great imagination, with the overall winner was Archie Walpole.
A new prize was initiated this year to commemorate Merle Liddy, who had been part of the Sarratt Horticultural Society for many years. This was awarded to the best newcomer to the show, Rhonda Beyer.
The overall winner of the show when points were added up across all sections was Simon Hammett.
