Watford Water Polo’s U15s team, who train at Woodside Leisure Centre, recently finished as runners-up in the Swim England National Age Group Finals.

The athletes set off early on Saturday, November 15, to travel to Manchester Aquatic Centre.

In their first game against Newton Abbot, the Watford side won 10-3, followed by a 15-1 victory over Barnet.

Their final game of the group stages was against Scottish side Caledonia. The final score finished 13-4 to Watford and saw the team sail through to the semi-finals on Sunday morning.

In a tense and closely-fought match, Watford secured the win with a 10-9 victory over Exeter.

The Watford side faced the City of Manchester in the final, which they lost 10-2 after a valiant effort.

A spokesperson for the club said: “Overall, it was a brilliant achievement by our boys and head coach Adam Page to reach the finals, having won four previous games and the team gave everything in the final, but it wasn’t to be.”

Meanwhile, the team’s goalie Jeremy Rotenberg was voted Top Goalie in the finals.
