Thirteen inspiring interns have graduated from Mission EmplyAble’s Café on the Common.
The Chorleywood-based charity offers a programme aimed at helping young people with learning disabilities gain permanent employment. Through their café on Chorleywood Common, they teach a variety of skills for jobs in areas such as hospitality, retail, hotels and horticulture.
The graduation ceremony last month brought together proud parents, siblings, trainers and trustees to celebrate the young graduates. Many of them will now go on to start exciting paid employment opportunities.
Guests included councillors Stephen King, Stephen Watkins, Debbie Rosario and Louise Price, as well as the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire Pippa Kirkbride.
Katharine Weston, founder and chair of Mission EmployAble, said: “As we look forward to the bright futures of our graduates, we are excited to welcome new interns in September. We know our fantastic café customers are looking forward to supporting and encouraging our new interns as they also become part of the Café on the Common family.”
