Hemel Hempstead Swim Club’s (HHSC) youngest athletes competed in the first round of a county-wide competition.
On May 11, HHSC’s youngest swimmers, aged 9 – 12, took to the water under the shimmering lights of Stevenage Arena, competing in the first round of Hertfordshire’s Peanuts league. For many of these swimmers, it was their first competitive swimming meet.
Amidst formidable competition, HHSC rose to the occasion, clinching a well-deserved second place, a testament to their resilience and skill.
A spokesperson from the club told Hemel News: “The poolside ambience was charged with the energy of outstanding individual performances and team relays, fuelled by an unparalleled team spirit that resonated throughout.
“Yet, it was our squadron relay team—comprised of Edward, Luca, Kuba, Vivaan, Sophie B, Lily B, Isla, and Ava—who electrified the arena in the final moments, surging ahead to claim victory with a breathtaking lead of nearly a length.”
