BREAKING STIGMA: Garston charity partnership aims to increase awareness of cancer

Published on: 5th January 2026   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A Garston-based charity is aiming to increase cancer awareness in places it doesn’t always reach.

One Vision has partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support and Watford Town Seventh-day Adventist Church for an event at the church on Sunday, January 31.

Taking place from 4pm to 6pm, the free event will aim to bring health, faith and community together. It will include information to educate attendees about the early signs of cancer, screening, and the support available for individuals, families and carers.

Posting on Facebook, One Vision said: “Cancer does not discriminate, but access to information, early detection and support often does. When we meet people where they are in their communities, cultures and faith spaces, we reduce fear, break stigma and save lives.”

Anyone who is unable to attend the event later this month don’t need to worry, as more cancer awareness and health sessions will take place throughout the year.
