Police were called to Rickmansworth this morning to report of suspected human remains being discovered in the River Chess.
The riverbank area was cordoned off around Salters Close and police and the fire brigade attended the scene.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: “Police were called at 9.52am today (Wednesday, November 3) to reports that suspected human remains had been discovered in the River Chess in Rickmansworth.
“Officers from the Three Rivers Local Crime Unit are at the location, a scene guard has been set up and initial enquiries have begun.”
