A racing car driver from Radlett has shared his experience of competing in the sport and his upcoming plans for the future.
Alex Jones, 28, is looking forward to getting behind the wheel to compete in the Mazda Mx5 Supercup this year.
The driver first picked up the need for speed after visiting an indoor karting track at eight years old, and has been karting ever since.
He told MyLocalNews: “I’d always been interested in motor racing from a young age. I remember my dad having the Formula one on when I was very young, and from that moment I thought, where do they start? If they can do it, why can’t I do it.
“My highest accomplishment in Formula Vee was 6th place at Croft. I did Formula Vee from 2013 to 2020 before starting the Mazda.”
“The best thing about racing is being in the right zone having some good battles, even if you can’t get near the top 5, you’ll always have someone to race against.”
Alex wants to encourage anyone interested in getting involved in racing to go along to a track day and get behind the wheel to give it a go.
