A five-year-old boy from Rickmansworth has cycled 10 miles and raised £800 for charity.
On Saturday, October 5, Samuel and his mum Charlotte cycled from the William Penn Leisure Centre in Rickmansworth to Watford FC’s stadium on Vicarage Road.
Samuel, though only young, has a growing awareness of injustice, according to Charlotte. She explained that after seeing a flyer from Sightsavers which showed a boy with an eye infection, Samuel asked his mum: “Can we do something to help?”
Sightsavers is an international charity working to combat avoidable blindness around the world, as well as improving local health services.
Describing the day of the cycling challenge, Charlotte said: “Samuel was very happy. The route was so lovely; you get to see people fishing and he was enjoying exploring.
“He stopped a little bit but not very much. We took two hours in the end because it wasn’t a very speedy pace as he only has little wheels.”
Samuel has smashed his fundraising target of £500 and has raised £800 so far.
