Last month, a celebration which brought joy, hugs and great cheer saw Ruislip clerk Amy Doody receive an award for Outstanding Clerk to a Governing Board at the House of Commons.
The Outstanding Governance Awards, held every two years, are coordinated by the National Governance Association to recognise contributions made by boards, governors, trustees and governance professionals.
The awards typically showcase best practice in school and trust governance. The aim is to highlight the impact governance has on schools, trusts and the education of children and young people.
Amy and fellow nominees from schools across the country were joined at the event by the Minister for School Standards, Georgia Gould OBE MP.
Amy is currently the clerk to the governing boards of several schools in Hillingdon, including Frithwood Primary School in Northwood, Lady Bankes Primary School in Ruislip, and Ruislip Gardens Primary School, as well as serving as a governor for her local school, Frithwood.
It was Frithwood that nominated Amy for the award after commending her achievements.
Asked how Amy has helped their school’s governing board, headteacher at Frithwood Primary School Frances Saunders said: “I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Amy since March 2018. Her expertise and understanding are second to none.
“Amy is hugely supportive of Frithwood’s entire governing board, and her commitment to education shines through.
“This award is a fitting recognition of Amy’s professionalism and dedication to her work. She’s not only our trusted expert but also a truly lovely person to work with.”
