Four members of Amersham Swimming Club (ASC) were thrilled to compete at an Olympic venue last month for an inter-county competition.
On Sunday, November 10, Brigitte, Michael, Noah and Guy from ASC represented Berks & South Bucks in the Swim England Masters Inter-Counties.
The event saw 31 teams from across the country compete in galas across different venues, with all points collated to form the final table of results. The Berks & South Bucks team swam at the London Aquatics Centre, which was originally built for the London 2012 Olympics.
Speaking to AMERSHAMnews, president of ASC Guy Emerson said: “It’s great for Amersham to have representation first and foremost.
“This particularly is such an interesting competition, and to swim at the London Aquatics Centre is very prestigious!”
The Berks & South Bucks team were delighted to come fourth in the Southeast region, the strongest division in the entire competition, and sixth overall against the 31 other teams.
Guy continued: “We have an active Masters Swimming Club, which includes male and female swimmers of all skills. It’s great to have youngsters and old guys like me getting represented.
“We are always interested in expanding the club. We do competitions, local meets, world championships, and fun galas as well. We even have people like myself who hadn’t swum in a long time pick it back up again. Some come for fitness, some for triathlons, some for competitions.”
