A 12-year-old boy has developed his childhood passion of building LEGO into a local flatpack furniture business.
Jacob Cohen, a Radlett resident, has always been fascinated by the process of constructing LEGO sets.
But now that he is getting older, and has moved into Year 7, the former Newberries School student has his eye on much bigger life-size builds.
Jacob said: “I’ve always loved LEGO. When I was younger, I used to beg for bigger sets because I liked following the instructions and seeing it all come together.
“Then, one day we got our garden furniture delivered in several big flat boxes and I wanted to see if I could build it myself, so I sat outside all day until it was done. It felt like doing a massive LEGO set. I still love LEGO and I’m actually saving up the money I make to buy more sets.”
The Radlett boy has already developed a varied portfolio from his time away from LEGO and has more jobs lined up.
He said: “I’ve built a swing bench, a garden sofa set with a fire table, a kids’ kitchen, bunk beds, and three BBQs. Currently, I let people pay whatever they think is fair for the job. Next, I have been asked to put together a mud kitchen and two bedside tables.”
Deborah, Jacob’s mother, added: “He’s takes real pride in doing a good job. We have posted about him online, hoping that neighbours get in touch if they need a hand with flatpack furniture.”
