Bassong “frustrated” at Watford draw

On loan Watford defender Sebastien Bassong says the Hornets are ready to bounce straight back, after a “frustrating” 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Watford dominated large portions of the game at Vicarage Road, but Michail Antonio twice pegged Slavisa Jokanovic’s men back to earn a point for the Reds. Bassong pointed to the players management of the game as an area in need of improvement, having conceded both goals shortly after taking the lead. “Honestly, I think we should have won the game” he admitted. “I think it’s a frustrating point. Sometimes that’s how it is in football – you should win but you don’t. “I think the team played well – we started well and dominated the game in both halves. We could have scored more goals when we were on top, and avoided the goals we did concede. There’s small details that would make the difference, and I’m sure we’re going to correct them. “When you score a goal, you’re buzzing, but you need to be even more careful in the next 10 minutes. We will learn from our mistakes. As a team we’ll get straight back up for the next game.” That next game is another crucial encounter at the top of the Sky Bet Championship, as Jokanovic’s side, who slipped to second place after the draw, travel north to Middlesbrough who sit third. “We need to be winning against our rivals,” he stressed. “The teams, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough, they’re competing to get promoted the same as us. “These games are really important, and if we can pick up wins we’ll be in a very good position to continue the good start to the season.”
