AWESOME ART: Tring artists to open their studios for month-long art festival

Published on: 29th May 2024   |   By: Panayiota Demosthenous   |   Category: Uncategorized

Local artists from across Tring and beyond will open their studios for visitors this month.

A selection of 14 Tring-based artists will open their studios from June 8 to 23 as part of the Bucks Art Weeks festival. This includes mixed-media artist Amanda Curbishley, painter and author Brenda Hurley, and painter and drawer Jilli Jenkins.

Tring News spoke with former graphic designer turned nature jeweller Caroline Hendry-Smith, who will also be welcoming residents into her home studio in Tring.

Caroline, who now runs her own jewellery business called Notion Jewellery, said: “It’s nice to make something physical you can hold, and it’s important to me that it has something to do with nature. I have always lived in Tring and feel a connection to the countryside.”

The jewellery that Caroline handcrafts is created through a series of moulds, silicon putty, master copies and casting, which results in rings, necklaces and other jewellery items created from the patterns on leaves, twigs, and even acorns.

She continued: “I like to capture the essence of the leaves and twigs. When residents come to my studio, they can hear more about my process, see the jewellery in real life, and enjoy my garden too.”
