Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers from the Girlguiding Radlett District (GRD) ended their autumn term with pyjama parties, themed sleepovers and visits to the panto.
With the help of Radlett & District Museum, Rainbows and Brownies learned about local history. They had fun mapping out then following the museum’s historical buildings trail around the village. They also visited the museum and enjoyed the displays, artifacts and storytelling celebrating local trades and characters. Museum volunteers helped the girls earn their local history badge.
The Brownies also enjoyed a sleepover on the weekend of Saturday, November 16, which GRD described in a Facebook post as a “wonderful opportunity”.
Seventy girls from 2nd Radlett Guides and 4th Radlett Rainbows and Brownies completed the stroke awareness challenge during some of their meetings this term, earning their stroke awareness badge and equipping themselves and others with important skills to make sure stroke victims have the best chance of recovery.
GRD were taught about calling emergency services and the causes of a stroke, as well as trying out blood pressure monitors. They tried activities such as putting toothpaste on a toothbrush one-handed and with limited vision to show what stroke victims can experience.
They also made posters spreading awareness that strokes happen at any age and getting help quickly can lead to full recovery.
GRD has spaces for girls to join the Brownie and Ranger sections from January. To find out more, visit www.shorturl.at/5xheY
