Actor and author Ardal O’Hanlon, best known as the lovable but dim Father Dougal in Father Ted, is coming to the area in an event hosted by Chorleywood Bookshop.
Ardal recently published his third novel, A Plot To Die For, a darkly comic mystery set in small-town Ireland, where gardening and murder intertwine.
He will be at The Reach School in Rickmansworth on Tuesday, May 5 at 7.30pm.
The Irishman will be in conversation with Robert Thorogood, author of The Marlow Murder Club and creator of the BBC series Death in Paradise, in which O’Hanlon starred as DI Mooney.
The novel follows celebrity gardener Finn O’Leary, who returns to his hometown of Abbeyford to care for his ageing mother. Hoping for a quiet life, he instead becomes entangled in the fiercely competitive Tidy Towns contest.
When a choir member suddenly dies mid-performance, Finn is drawn into an investigation alongside his sharp-witted mother, her career, and an ambitious local.
This promises an entertaining evening of humour and intrigue for fans of crime fiction and Irish storytelling alike.
