A 68-year-old man was arrested after allegedly walking through the streets of Berkhamsted brandishing a knife.
Residents reported that an elderly man was seen carrying a knife in the High Street on the morning of February 17. Eyewitnesses were concerned with the behaviour of the man, who allegedly used the knife to cut at shrubbery as he went. Armed police attended the scene and made an arrest.
A spokesperson for Herts Police said: “Police were called at just after 10.30am on Friday, February 17, to report that a man had been seen in possession of a knife in Berkhamsted High Street.
“Officers attended, including armed resources, and a 68-year-old man from Tring was arrested on suspicion of having a bladed article in a public place. A knife was also recovered.
“The man has been bailed while enquiries continue.”
Thankfully, nobody was injured or threatened during the incident.
