The final countdown to the biggest event in Abbots has begun; the carnival will bring the streets alive. The Abbots Carnival, organised by Watford Lions Club, will take place at Manor House Recreation Grounds on Saturday, June 11. My Abbots News can reveal that this year’s Carnival Queen Competition winner is 24-year-old, and Miss Hertfordshire finalist, Holly Worthington. Holly said: “I am really looking forward to being the Carnival Queen this year as I think it is a great local event with a good sense of community spirit. “I have been coming along to the carnival since I was a little girl and have always been a big fan of the atmosphere and the crowd it attracts. “The carnival is great because it really does bring everyone in the area together and everyone is always so happy.” The carnival will be preceded by a procession of floats, including the Carnival Queen, which will go around the village starting at midday from School Mead. The floats will reach Abbots Langley High Street at around 12.45pm and awards will be presented to the winning floats. Joseph Peace has been announced as this year’s headline act; he has created a unique blend of circus and pantomime, mixing fun and danger in equal measures to keep you right on the edge of your seat. The main arena programme also includes dancers, majorettes, a local choir and a marching band. The event is sponsored by M.K.Ginder & Son and Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter. Picture courtesy of Hoss Photography
