AREA QUIZ: Quizmaster from Chalfont St Peter sets readers a challenge

A man from Chalfont St Peter has created a quiz about the area and Buckinghamshire and is inviting Chalfont News readers to give it a go.

Niall Jones has crafted 25 questions across a range of categories including geography, history, politics, music and literature.

Originally they were created for quizzing website WikiQuiz but his 25 questions have now been added to the Chalfont News website so readers can put their wits.

He’s no stranger to quizzing having auditioned for University Challenge and was part of the Southampton team that appeared in the 2017-18 series.

He was also on the university quiz committee before becoming vice-president in-house, which meant he as responsible for putting together these quizzes.

More recently he has contributed to the Southern Novice Tournament, an inter-university quiz that ran in 2018 and 2019.

He told Vision about his inspiration behind his latest quiz. He said: “I chose Buckinghamshire partly because I know a decent amount about it, having grown up in Chalfont St Peter, but also because, as a theme, it’s quite loose, giving you a unifying structure without limiting you to just one category.

“The categories I’ve chosen are quite varied, including geography, history, politics, music and literature

“The idea behind this was to create a set of general knowledge questions with a Buckinghamshire theme, as I knew that most of the people playing it wouldn’t be from the county.

“Consequently, there are only a few questions that require specific local knowledge to answer. These proved to be quite difficult for many of those who played the quiz, but might well be easier for the readers of Chalfont News.”

Niall’s quiz can be found on the Chalfont News website.
