APPRECIATED CALL: Principal delighted to see former Stanmore dance school memories

Published on: 6th May 2020   |   By: Amneet Kaur   |   Category: Uncategorized

Principal of Stagecoach Performing Arts Stanmore & Harrow Weald, Jayne Hardy, was thrilled to see memories of a former Stanmore dance school.

Jayne, just before Christmas had received a call from a lady called Elaine, who was clearing the house of a friend and former dance teacher Lynn, who used to run the school.

Lynn and her husband were moved into a care home due to suffering with dementia.

Elaine told the principal there was quite a lot of stuff from years of running the school – which was started by Lynn and Val – mostly for younger children, that could have been useful for students at Stagecoach.

Jayne said: “I was thrilled to be asked as I’m always on the lookout for new things to keep our material fresh at Stagecoach. I asked what she wanted financially for the costumes but she didn’t want anything, just the knowledge that they would be put to good use.

“I promised that I would make a donation to a dementia charity and organise to visit Lynn and her husband in the care home with some students to sing her some songs.

“Sadly, since then, Lynn passed away, but I would still love to salute her locally and get some more memories together.”

Elaine told Jayne that Lynn had started the school in the sixties and it ran to the early noughties.

It started as Stanmore School of Ballet at the top of Green Lane and then moved to the Church House in Stanmore.

Lynn then changed the name to Lynn Haywards Theatre School at Blackwell Hall. She latterly ran Theatre Buffs a talent agency for her students.
