Appeal after arson in Croxley

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an arson which caused around £10,000 worth of damage to crops in Croxley Green on Sunday. Officers were called to Rousebarn Lane, just south of Newlands Spring Woods, at 3.40pm by a member of the public to reports two youths had been seen setting fire to wheat at the location. Whilst no evacuations were needed, Rousebarn Lane was closed and the helicopter attended to deliver messages to local residents offering advice. The first suspect is described as white, aged 13-14 years old, 5ft 7ins tall, of slight build with short, straight auburn hair. He was wearing a blue short sleeved t-shirt and blue jeans. A white boy, aged approximately 12-13 years old, 5ft 2ins tall who was of slight build and had dark collar length hair. They were wearing a white ¾ length sleeved top and baggy khaki coloured knee length shorts. They were carrying a dark beige holdall or satchel. Inspector Iain Jenkins said: “This was a large scale fire which required a number fire and police resources. It has caused significant loss to the farmer but I am grateful to the quick thinking witness who called police as their actions have prevented the fire being even more significant. “We believe this to be a deliberate act and would urge anyone else who was in the area and saw the two youths described to please contact officers.
