St Albans Road - resizedPolice are appealing for witnesses and information following a report of dangerous driving in Watford. The incident occurred at around half past midday on Tuesday, May 13 in Bruce Grove. It is alleged that when a police officer tried to stop a ‘08’-plate black Ford Focus ST in the road, the driver acknowledged the officer before reversing the vehicle towards them. It is then reported that the driver drove at speed over a public footpath, which isn’t designed for vehicles, and onto St Albans Road whilst nearly colliding with around 10 to 15 pedestrians. The driver is described as a white man and around 5ft 8-10ins tall. He was wearing a white t-shirt and dark trousers. PC Carlie Thomas is investigating the incident and said: “This is reported to have happened during the middle of the day when there were quite a large number of people around. I would like to hear from anyone who was present at the time of the incident or saw the vehicle prior to or after this.” Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Thomas via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, citing reference C4/14/1045, or via e-mail: Alternatively call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
