ANOTHER LOSS: Hemel’s poor run continues

Published on: 18th January 2020   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Hemel Hempstead Town F.C

Hemel Hempstead Town make it five games without a win after being beat 2-0 away to Bath City FC.

The game burst into life on 78 minutes with Bath scoring two goals in as six minutes to take all three points.

The home and away fans didn’t have much to cheer about in the opening 20 minutes, with neither side having any real clear cut chances.

Bath’s Smith had the best chance of the first half on 20 minutes, with his shot from 20 yards out whistling narrowly past the post.

Bath thought they scored the opening goal of the game but the referee ruled it out for a push in the box.

Both sides went into the break knowing the game was there to be won – it was a nothing half for either side with The Tudors defending well to keep it.

Two minutes into the second half and Bath’s Pearson nearly scored a spectacular overhead kick but his shot ended in a goal kick.

City once again thought they scored the opening goal of the game but again, the referee ruled it out for a foul at the far post.

With the game dying out and Hemel players happy to stay back and soak up the pressure, up stepped Smith who scored a fantastic free-kick giving Beasant no chance. 1-0 to the home side.

Six minutes later and Beasant got punished after his efforts in trying to clear the ball upfield was intercepted by Stearn who made no mistake by putting City 2-0 up.

Hemel’s poor run continued as they will be left frustrated after defending fairly well against Bath.

Hemel will be looking to grab all three points against Potters Bar Town on Tuesday, January 21.
