The number of caravans at a site in Kings Langley is set to almost double after planners approved the creation of more pitches.
Three Rivers District Council’s (TRDC) Planning Committee approved an application to add an additional 11 pitches at the site, called Little Liz, off Old House Lane.
This means up to 22 caravans will be allowed at the site, compared to the 12 currently permitted.
At present, there are six pitches which can each hold two caravans. Although an additional 11 pitches have now been given the green light, planners recommended that the capacity of the site is capped at 22 caravans.
The development will also see a day room built which will contain a kitchen and dining area, living room, bathroom, utility room, office, and playroom.
Approval was given at a TRDC planning meeting on Thursday, April 17, with a unanimous vote in favour.
The plans did receive some objections, including one local resident who said: “We object on the grounds that this site was never designated as a camp site and has been developed into a permanent caravan village, which is not in keeping with the area or the surroundings.
“We consider that it should not be increased further but contained as it is to avoid further adverse impact on the local environment and residents.”
Meanwhile, Abbots Langley Parish Council commented: “Whilst members appreciate the need for the Little Liz community to grow, we are concerned regarding the expansion of the site within the green belt.”
