ANGEL MUMS: Group of Chalfonts mums raise £15,400 with Earth, Wind and Fire fundraiser

A Chalfont St Peter resident said it was “very emotional” to summit Mount Snowdon with a group of other mothers who have all lost children to brain cancer.

Rebecca Gaskell lost her teenage daughter, Grace, to brain cancer in 2020. She is a member of the Angel Mums, a group of eight mothers who work together to raise funds in memory of their children.

In October, they completed a skydive and raised £77,000 for the Tessa Jowell Foundation, a charity set up to fund brain cancer treatment and research.

This year, the mums set themselves a challenge which they have named Earth, Wind and Fire. They kickstarted the challenge by climbing Mount Snowdon on May 18, and will brave a wing walk on July 20, before a fire walk on October 19.

Speaking to CHALFONTS&GERRARDSCROSSnews, Rebecca said: “Everyone struggled on the walk, but it is lovely to be together and united.

“It’s all about raising awareness of brain cancer in children – we don’t want to scare people, but we want them to be alert to symptoms.”

So far, the Angel Mums have raised more than £15,400 through their Earth, Wind and Fire fundraiser. To donate, visit
